Melissa and Sherley are sisters and part of a very tight-knit family. They grew up in Boston with their parents, older sister, Goele, younger brother, Vladimir, and always had plenty of loving extended family around.
Melissa, younger sister to Sherley, is the mother of two beautiful boys, Nathaniel, 12, and Caden, 7. She has attended Lasell University and earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting and a graduate degree in Business Management. She worked for Harvard University for almost 15 years, but has been the Associate Director of Finance at Fayerweather Street School in Cambridge for the past four years.
Sherley lives peacefully with her creative, handsome, and smart 16-year-old son, Christopher. When Christopher was born, he was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis, a rare genetic disorder that causes tumors or growths in the brain and other organs. Thankfully, he is able to function normally and is thriving in school! Sherley has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wheaton College and a Clinical Social Work degree from Boston University’s School of Social Work. She currently works for Harvard University’s School of Public Health as an Associate Director of Finance. Sherley’s true passion lies in working with children and their families. She is elated to join the We Rock family and get back to her roots.
Shortly after her youngest son, Caden, was born, Melissa sensed that something was different. She had him tested for autism at 17 months and he was confirmed to be on the spectrum. Their lives were forever changed when they received the result and her focus turned completely to providing the best support she could for him. Caden is both Melissa and Sherley’s inspiration for bringing a We Rock gym to their community.
Sherley and Melissa saw that there was a desperate need for a safe haven for all children with special needs and their families. They feel beyond blessed to be able to start this journey together and to shine a light in the darkness during a difficult time. Their enthusiasm, passion, and selflessness are what the world needs and we are thrilled to have them join our team! Welcome Sherley and Melissa! We can’t wait to see the difference you make in Massachusetts!
